Scattered showers are continuing across the region today. Snow levels are around 5,000-6,000 feet. A few isolated thunderstorms are possible in northwest Montana.
Showers taper off tonight as conditions become mostly dry Tuesday. Highs will be in the 50s to low 60s.
A stronger system arrives Tuesday night into Wednesday, bringing widespread precipitation and falling snow levels, initially across northwest Montana.
Winter driving conditions are expected for Marias, Lookout, and Lolo passes to start Wednesday, with average snowfall totals of 2 to 5 inches likely by midday.
A strong cold front on Wednesday will bring gusty winds and drop snow levels to valley floors by Thursday.
While valley impacts look limited, mountain passes could see an additional 2 to 5 inches of snow Wednesday night through Thursday. Moderate pass travel impacts are looking more likely at this time.
Isolated snow squalls could develop on southwest Montana Wednesday evening.
High temperatures will fall well below average Thursday, only warming into the upper 30s and 40s.
This weekend will see a warming, drying tend, but it will only be brief. Another round of cool, showery weather looks to return early next week.
