Houston METRO reopens Southwest Freeway HOV ramps at Westpark Tollway ahead of FIFA World Cup – KHOU

HOUSTON — Houston METRO is set to reopen the Southwest Freeway HOV/HOT entrance and exit ramps at the Westpark Tollway Monday morning.
The ramps are set to open at 5 a.m. on June 1.
METRO said the ramps have been closed for several years due to the I-610 West Loop and I-69 Interchange Project headed by the Texas Department of Transportation.
“Reopening restores a key access point for commuters, buses and carpoolers traveling through one of Houston’s busiest freeway corridors, helping improve travel and reliability and reduce delays along the Southwest Freeway,” METRO said in a news release.
The ramps will be open daily for two periods — the first from 5 a.m. to 11 a.m. and the second from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.
“This connection will help accommodate higher travel demand and improve movement through the corridor,” said METRO Chair Elizabeth Gonzalez Brock.
