Severe weather across the U.S. East Coast on Sunday caused heavy waves of flight cancellations and delays at airports from Florida northward.
As of Sunday evening, according to FlightAware, Orlando International Airport (MCO), Tampa International Airport (TPA), Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT), Miami International Airport (MIA), and Sarasota Bradenton International Airport (SRQ) were all seeing significant flight delays and cancellations for both arrivals and departures.
Other airports, including New York’s LaGuardia Airport (LGA) and Boston Logan International Airport (BOS), were also experiencing significant issues.
Here’s the latest from FlightAware:
The weather causing the issues is the same system that brought flash flooding to the Tennessee Valley earlier in the weekend and is expected to continue impacting flights through the Northeast on Monday.
“The same weather system [sic] is expected to continue to cause flight problems for those traveling through the Northeast on Monday,” the NWS said in its latest update.
