Traffic experts share insights on I-15 travel during peak season.

Traveling between Las Vegas and Los Angeles is a popular route, especially in April as the weather warms up and events ramp up in both cities. Traffic experts from the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada provide insights on the best times to travel the I-15 corridor to avoid delays.
The I-15 freeway is a crucial connection between the two major metropolitan areas, and understanding traffic patterns can help travelers plan their trips more efficiently and avoid frustrating delays.
According to Theresa Gaisser, the deputy CEO of the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada, northbound traffic on the Nevada side of the I-15 had a weekly average of 159,000 travelers in April 2025, while southbound traffic averaged 156,600 per week. The RTC anticipates a 2% increase in weekly traffic volumes this April compared to 2025. Gaisser advises that the least amount of traffic on the Nevada side of the I-15 going from Las Vegas to Los Angeles is from midnight to 6 a.m., and Tuesdays and Wednesdays are the lowest traffic days. However, upcoming events in Las Vegas like concerts, conventions, and sporting events could impact traffic in the area.
