CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – The First Alert Storm Team has declared a First Alert Day Saturday.
A First Alert Day is your alert to winter weather conditions that you will need to pay attention to and act. This could include changing travel plans or anticipating a longer time to reach your destination.
We have been tracking a fast-moving clipper that will bring showers to the state. It looks like it will move into the state on Saturday beginning as rain. As cold air works into the system a transition to a rain snow mix or to all snow occurs. As this is the first wintry precipitation event of the season travel will be impacted. Slick spots and stretches could develop on roadways along with reduced visibility as the showers continue.
We will continue to monitor the situation and update you with any changes that come to your First Alert Forecast. You can find those on here on KCRG.com, KCRG-TV9, and the KCRG First Alert Weather app.
