Winter Storm Updates: North Carolina travel road conditions, traffic alerts – WXII12 Winston-Salem

With the threat of winter weather and icy roads, the North Carolina Department of Transportation urges drivers to stay off the roads.
North Carolina is under a State of Emergency as snow and ice will impact roads statewide.
Once the storm hits, please don’t try to drive. Stay off the roads unless it is absolutely essential that you travel,” Secretary Joey Hopkins said.
But if you absolutely have to travel, make sure to slow down on the roads. Approach bridges and overpasses with extreme caution since they often accumulate ice first.
