John Diorio has exited Virgin Voyages after six years, the past three as vice-president of North American sales.
The news was first reported by Seatrade Cruise News. A Virgin Voyages spokesperson told the outlet that Diorio “made the decision to resign,” adding: “John’s departure comes with great appreciation for his contributions, including building and establishing relationships with our travel advisor community and supporting our growth. We wish him well in all of his future endeavours.”
PAX last saw Diorio in January at Virgin Voyages’ “ First Mate Spectacular Soiree” – an event that honours the cruise line’s top 100 travel advisors – aboard Valiant Lady, a vibrant, 2,700-passenger ship that debuted in 2022.

At the event, Diorio pointed out that 22,142 travel advisors made a booking with Virgin Voyages last year.
“I can’t thank you enough for what you do for us…We’re building this business together with you. We can’t do it without you. We need you with us along this journey,” he said at the gathering.
This year’s Soiree unfolded on the heels of Sir Richard Branson’s adults-only cruise line reporting record-breaking growth.

With Diorio stepping down, Chief Marketing Officer Nathan Rosenberg will step in as acting leader of the sales division, which remains “dedicated to our travel advisor community,” the spokesperson told Seatrade.
Diorio first joined Virgin Voyages in August 2018 as director of sales, U.S. and western Canada, later rising to director of North America sales then associate vice-president and from January 2022, to vice-president.
