This surge signals a strong recovery and growing global appeal for Vietnam’s tourism industry.

The number of international searches related to travel and accommodation in Vietnam has surged in the first months of 2025, highlighting the growing global interest in the country’s tourism sector.
According to the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism, data from Google shows that searches for accommodations in Vietnam increased by 15-30% from late November 2024 to the end of January 2025 compared to the same period last year. Notably, in the first half of February 2025, search volumes rose even further, reaching a 30-45% increase.
The top countries searching for Vietnam travel are the United States, Australia, India, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, the United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, and Malaysia. These nations represent key target markets for Vietnamese tourism across Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, Europe, and North America.
Particularly, Australia and India ranking as the second and third largest search sources indicate immense potential for future growth in these markets.
Vietnam’s most searched destinations among international visitors include Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang, Phu Quoc, Nha Trang, Hoi An, Da Lat, Phan Thiet, Hue, and Vung Tau.
Vietnam sees record-breaking international arrivals
In January 2025, Vietnam welcomed nearly 2.1 million international tourists, marking a 36.9% increase compared to the same period in 2024, according to the General Statistics Office.
This figure set a new record for Vietnam’s tourism industry, surpassing the previous peak of 1.99 million visitors recorded in January 2020.
Compared to pre-pandemic levels in January 2019, the number of international arrivals in January 2025 was 37.8% higher.
These promising statistics signal strong momentum for Vietnam’s tourism industry. For 2025, the tourism sector has set ambitious goals, aiming to attract 22-23 million international visitors, serve 120-130 million domestic tourists, and generate total revenue of approximately USD 39-42 billion.
Visa policy boosts European tourist arrivals
On January 15, 2025, the Vietnamese government issued Resolution No. 11/NQ-CP, which grants visa exemptions for citizens of Poland, Switzerland, and the Czech Republic under a tourism stimulus program for the year.
This policy is expected to provide a significant boost in attracting tourists from these three European markets to Vietnam throughout 2025.
