“Very difficult” travel likely, says NWS: Winter weather advisory for Tuesday – 14850.com

“Travel could be very difficult,” says the National Weather Service of a winter weather system that’s expected Tuesday, December 2nd. A winter weather advisory is in effect from 1am-7pm Tuesday, and several inches of snow could fall across the region. “The hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday morning and evening commutes.”
Update: As of early afternoon Monday, the winter weather advisory’s timing has narrowed to 2am-6pm Tuesday. Localized snowfall amounts around 7 inches are most likely in higher elevations, especially in Cortland, Madison, and Oneida Counties, says the National Weather Service. Snowfall rates around an inch per hour are likely during the morning hours.
More of Tompkins County is now in the region that could get 6-8 inches of snow overnight tonight and through the day on Tuesday, with most of the rest of the area now expected to see 4-6 inches of accumulation. Sunday afternoon’s forecast showed nearly all of Tompkins County in the 4-6 range, and more of the Finger Lakes expecting 3-4.
“Slow down and use caution while traveling,” said the National Weather Service in Monday morning’s advisory. Check the Road Conditions group on Facebook and report your sightings.

Lauren and the Good Souls bring their unique Joni Mitchell tribute to the Hangar Theatre’s In Flight Entertainment Series.  A band of multi-instrumentalists, the group can handle Mitchell’s complexity and depth with finesse, from the intimate acoustic moments to the horn section swells, tight harmonies and orchestral arrangements. The featured musical guest of the evening is Sue Tierney, Ithaca native since 1986, and founder/contributor to jonimitchell.com guitar and piano transcriptions. Sue was involved with the Ithaca Community School of Music and Art’s annual Joni Mitchell Tribute concerts from 2009 to 2019.  To more fully encompass Joni’s creative prowess, HOUSE of ChoCLET will be creating live art on canvas while the band performs Joni’s hits and deep cuts.

Come join us for a traditional Irish music session at Liquid State Brewing! This is a monthly open session on the second Sunday of each month. An Irish session is a community gathering where we all play tunes together. Anyone who plays Irish tunes is welcome to bring their fiddle / whistle / flute / concertina / whatever it might be! Or just stop by and listen. We’ll be making plenty of raucous noise, playing reels, jigs, polkas (!!), slip jigs, and more!! Liquid State has lots of amazing beer and they also have great non-alcoholic drinks. There’s good food too (usually from the Silo food truck folks).
