Winter is just around the corner, and Vancouver Island is looking to be an attractive destination for travellers from around the world.
Travel media platform Travel and Tour World (TTW) has named B.C.’s largest island as one of the top island escapes for winter travel.
Vancouver Island came in the 11th spot, beating out other popular destinations like Fiji, Cozumel, and Aruba.

“This feature highlights thirty standout islands captivating travellers this winter season,” said TTW in a release, which explained the list was created based on feedback from 15 million readers, its editorial team, trend analysis, and destination data.
Vancouver Island was spotlighted for its Indigenous and Canadian coastal culture, its arts scene, and music festivals.
Foodies got the lowdown on cuisines that the island is known for, including salmon, seafood chowder, and Nanaimo bars.
And those looking for places to visit on a trip to Vancouver Island were recommended Butchart Gardens, Tofino, and the Victoria harbourfront.

“The ‘Top 30 Island Escapes for Winter Travel 2025’ proudly highlights destinations that not only beckon exploration but also capture the ever-evolving essence of global travel,” said Anup Kumar Keshan, founder and editor-in-chief of TTW.
“These islands stand as symbols of modern wanderlust, offering unparalleled experiences that combine luxury, culture, and sustainability, shaping the future of winter travel.”
Vancouver Island was the only Canadian destination on the TTW list. It joins several B.C. spots in raking in the world travel accolades.
Wickaninnish Inn
The Wickaninnish Inn on Vancouver Island was named one of the world’s best resorts, securing its place among some of the most luxurious stays in North America.
And Ucluelet was named a top global travel destination for 2026 as part of a new report from Expedia, Hotels.com, and Vrbo.
