British tourists have been cautioned this week that their holiday plans may encounter significant disruption.
The UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), the governmental department tasked with issuing travel advice to safeguard public wellbeing, has revised its guidance for numerous sought-after holiday destinations.
The continuing conflict in the Middle East is expected to trigger delays and additional complications, even for those not travelling to that particular area.
Whilst the FCDO sometimes recommends against all travel to certain nations, these locations haven't yet met that criteria – although the guidance remains crucial. Sign up for the North Wales Live newsletter sent twice daily to your inbox
The revised advice confirms: "Escalation in the Middle East has caused widespread travel disruption, including airspace closures, delayed and cancelled flights," reports the Liverpool Echo.
"Your travel plans may be affected, even if your destination is not in the Middle East."
Countries including Australia, New Zealand and Thailand are among those featured in this week's FCDO update.
Travellers are encouraged to review the guidance for any nations or regions they'll be transiting through before departure, reports the Express.
It's also recommended that you check the latest information with your airline or tour operator ahead of your journey.
Additionally, reviewing your travel insurance documentation beforehand is sensible to understand what protection you have if your itinerary is disrupted.
The FCDO further advised: "Monitor local and international media for the latest information and sign up for travel advice email alerts."
Travellers should be aware that ignoring any guidance could result in their travel insurance becoming void, making it crucial to check the requirements before departure.
Cover should include your travel plans, intended activities and potential emergency costs.
