Indonesian low-cost airline, TransNusa has confirmed it will be increasing its flights on the Bali-Perth route in a bid to meet increasing demands.
The Indonesian carrier has confirmed the flights will increase to 11 times weekly after July 2nd 2025, and then again to 14 times weekly after July 18th. This comes after the airline first announced the route in March of this year, TransNusa’s first expansion outside of Southeast Asia.
Seemingly, the popularity of the route has deemed the increase necessary in the hope of addressing the growing travel requirements in the sector. The International Air Transport Association (IATA) confirmed in February 2025 that the Asia-Pacific market, in the short-term, could see passenger numbers increase by 7.9% in 2025, and in the long-term could see the numbers grow annually by 5.1%. With passenger increases this robust, it makes TransNusa’s expansion plans crucial if they are to keep up.
Internationally, TransNusa are operating as a full-service airline but domestically it acts as a budget carrier. However, in the future they want to transition to a full-service carrier both internationally and domestically, pending approval from Indonesia’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation. The CEO of TransNusa, Bernard Francis said:
“The move to enhance our customer comfort is part of our plan to grow TransNusa as a secure and caring brand in line with our premium service carrier status”
This transition, their expansion, and the suspected growth in the Asia-Pacific market marks exciting times for the industry in this sector and for TransNusa.
Founded in 2005, TransNusa, based in Jakarta, Indonesia, is a low-cost airline providing flights to over 20 destinations across Indonesia and Southeast Asia. Focused on affordability and connectivity, TransNusa is expanding its international network to try to drive regional tourism and economic growth.
