BUFFALO, N.Y. — A Travel Ban for long tandem combination vehicles (LCV) has been issued for Sunday by the NYS Thruway Authority.

The Thruway Authority announced a travel ban for LCVs (large trucks pulling two or more trailers) starting at 6am Sunday, Jan 24. All LCVs will be prohibited from travelling on Thruway routes, including I-90, I-190, I-87 and I-287.
The Genesee County, Wyoming County, and Orleans County sheriff’s offices have issued Travel Advisory, starting at 10 a.m. Sunday. It will remain in effect until further notice.
Those counties are anticipating accumulating snow and extreme temperatures.
“The expected conditions will impact road conditions and visibility creating treacherous travel for all motorists. Motorists are encouraged to avoid all unnecessary travel,” Genesee County said.
Roads are not closed during a Travel Advisory, but unnecessary travel is discouraged.
For Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, Allegany, Wyoming, and southern Erie counties, the warning runs from 1 a.m. Sunday to 7 p.m. Monday.
For Niagara, Orleans, Genesee, and northern Erie counties, the warning lasts from 7 a.m. Sunday to 7 p.m. Monday.
For McKean and Potter counties in northern Pennsylvania, the warning is from 10 p.m. Saturday and to 1 p.m. Monday.
