November can be a glorious month to go in search of the sun. With no school holidays in the diary, beaches and hotels are likely to be calm – while many destinations offer tempting discounts in what is traditionally a quiet window ahead of the Christmas rush.
The weather is also behaving itself. The monsoon period, which afflicts India and the Far East, has generally rained itself out by the end of September. And if the hurricane season in the Atlantic is still in gust – it is generally deemed to last until the end of November – then the most risky months (September and October) have already passed.
The following 15 options should all come with a tan if you’re searching for a holiday in November.
Sometimes dismissed as one of the Mediterranean’s less imaginative destinations, Malta has the capacity to surprise. There are comfortable hotels in St Julian’s and Sliema – and there is history galore in Valletta, whose huge walls have let it retain a sense of medieval grandeur.
Kuoni (0800 088 5602) offers a seven-night stay at the Phoenicia Malta, the main five-star property in Valletta, flying from Manchester on November 8, from £2,011 per person. Find more of the best hotels in Malta.

The Canary Islands are Europe’s most reliable options for winter sun, rarely dipping below 20C. Tenerife, the largest member of the archipelago, is famed for the beach hotels of the Costa Adeje and Playa de las Americas. But it also deals in volcanic majesty and wonderful hiking trails on its vast central peak, Mount Teide – as well as superb restaurants in its (often underappreciated) capital, Santa Cruz.
Sovereign Luxury Travel (01293 306 210) offers a seven-night break at the five-star Tivoli La Caleta resort, on the Costa Adeje, flying from Glasgow on November 15, from £1,545 per person. Find more of the best hotels in Tenerife.

America’s second biggest city is an act that never needs refining – at least in terms of its weather. Los Angeles, of course, is a metropolis of attractions. Hollywood is abuzz with bars and stars, the Museum of Contemporary Art dazzles, and Santa Monica is heaven for beach-breakers.
Virgin Atlantic (0344 209 4704) offers a seven-night getaway to the five-star Mondrian LA in West Hollywood, flying from Heathrow on November 9, from £1,556 per person. Find more of the best hotels in Los Angeles

You do not always need a beach to enjoy winter sun. Marrakech is proof of that. This fabled citadel on the edge of Saharan sand is a mix of swirling souks, relaxed riads and epic Islamic architecture. That it rarely drops below 20C between October and March is almost incidental.
Inspiring Travel (01244 729 709) offers a seven-night escape to five-star Marrakech retreat The Oberoi from £2,313 per person. Find more of the best hotels in Marrakech

Sometimes lost in the glow of neighbouring Victoria, Down Under’s great southern state has more than enough attractions to fill a holiday. Adelaide, its capital, is a city of art and culture, Kangaroo Island is a wildlife haven, and wonderful wines are produced in the Barossa Valley.
The Ultimate Travel Company (020 3603 5421) offers a 17-day Naturally Australia itinerary, which spends its first five days in South Australia – in Adelaide, and on Kangaroo Island, from £6,870 per person, including domestic (but not international) flights. Find more of the best hotels in Adelaide.

In some senses, Argentina’s capital is a place out of context. There it sits, towards the lower reaches of South America, pinned to that broadest of Latin rivers, the Rio de la Plata. Yet Buenos Aires stands out as a hive of cosmopolitan allure on a continent of rainforest and mountains – brimming with culture and cool in the museums of Puerto Madero, the bars of Palermo, the parrilla eateries of San Telmo and Recoleta, and the urban mystique of La Boca.
Journey Latin America (020 3925 1498) offers a 13-day Signature Argentina tour, which spends three days in Buenos Aires, before forging on to Patagonia and Iguacu Falls, from £4,950 per person, excluding international flights. Find more of the best hotels in Buenos Aires.

The nickname says it all. The “Sunshine State” basks in warmth throughout the year, making for a destination where life looks towards the beach. But then, how could it not? Florida boasts around 1,350 miles of coastline (more than any other American state, with the exception of Alaska) – with its key cities (Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Jacksonville, Tampa) clinging to this sandy edge.
British Airways Holidays (0344 493 0787) offers a seven-night getaway to the five-star Opal Sands resort at Clearwater Beach, flying from Gatwick to Tampa on November 8, from £1,730 per person. Find more of the best hotels in Tampa.

A hair-splitter would argue that, geographically speaking, the Bahamas are not a Caribbean destination, as the islands lie in the open Atlantic, rather than within the Caribbean Sea. Still, the description stands, because the holiday experience is much the same as you would expect in the likes of Barbados and Antigua: glorious November days where the sun beams down, and cocktail hours can stretch for far longer than 60 minutes.
Tropical Sky (01342 395 330) offers seven-night at the Sandals Royal Bahamian from £2,849 per person, including flights. Find more of the best hotels in the Bahamas.

An admittedly niche choice for a warm-weather African getaway, Mozambique offers historic discoveries in its busy capital Maputo, and wildlife encounters in the safari zones of the interior (notably Gorongosa National Park). But it is rapidly becoming known for its 1,430 miles of Indian Ocean coastline, where chic resorts have put down roots.
Steppes Travel (01258 402 162) offers an eight-day Private Resort on Bazaruto Island package – a wonderful barrier island midway up that long coastline – from £3,910 per person, excluding international flights. Find more of the best hotels in Mozambique.

A country of epic history and geography, with shorelines on two vast bodies of water, Mexico is at its most accessible on the eastern flank of its Yucatan Peninsula. Cancun, purpose-built here as a hotspot of luxury resorts and beach hotels, attracts endless streams of holidaymakers who want to doze on the edge of the Caribbean Sea. But the past awaits in thrilling fashion, not least in the iconic Mayan sites of Chichen Itza, Tulum and Coba.
Travelbag (020 3918 3017) offers a seven-night all-inclusive getaway to the five-star Dreams Vista Cancun Resort & Spa, flying from Manchester on November 15, from £1,921 per person. Find more of the best hotels on the Yucatan Peninsula

Flat and low-slung, where plenty of its Caribbean colleagues are craggy and volcanic, Antigua is a dream of a destination, equipped – according to local folklore – with 365 beaches, one for every day of the year. The hotels dotted on the fringes of these sandy stretches are happy havens for escapes from the European winter.
Best At Travel (020 3993 1467) offers a seven-night stay at the five-star Blue Waters Hotel Antigua, flying from Heathrow on November 3, from £2,575 per person, all inclusive. Find more of the best hotels in Antigua.

You can never quite escape Cambodia’s incredibly dark past; not least in the capital Phnom Penh, where the worst crimes committed by the Khmer Rouge regime are still in evidence, as museums and memorials. But this fabulous sliver of the Far East also has a lightness and brightness – in the towers and spires of the incomparable Angkor temple complex at Siem Reap, and the beach resorts that have appeared around southerly Sihanoukville.
Inside Asia Tours (0117 409 5033) offers an 11-night Into The Heart Of Cambodia tour, which ticks off Phnom Penh and Angkor Wat, from £2,340 per person, excluding international flights. Find more of the best hotels in Cambodia.

There are several reasons why the most glitzy of the United Arab Emirates has become a haven from the European winter – the architectural ambition of hotels like the Burj Al Arab, the warm sands of Jumeirah Beach, the retail joys on offer in shopping temples such as the Mall of the Emirates. But mainly it is to do with Dubai’s daytime heat, which pins itself resolutely to the 30C mark.
Thomas Cook (020 8016 3295) offers a seven-night getaway to the five-star Hilton Dubai Palm Jumeirah, flying from Gatwick on November 8, from £1,744 per person. Find more of the best hotels in Dubai.

This island nation in the western Indian Ocean is an excellent option for a long-haul holiday in the 11th month of the year. Indeed, November is something of a sweet spot, promising warm, dry conditions, and pleasant temperatures. And if Mauritius has something of a reputation for being a place where tourists go to relax rather than explore, well, where is the harm in that?
First Choice (020 3451 2716) offers a seven-night stay at the four-star Veranda Grand Baie Hotel, at the very north tip of the island, flying from Gatwick on November 22, from £1,757 per person. Find more of the best hotels in Mauritius.

There was a time when explorers considered the Seychelles to be a lost biblical paradise, viewing the rich foliage of the second-largest island, Praslin, as a remainder of the Garden of Eden. While the archipelago cannot claim to be quite this heavenly in 2025, its weather in November tends to be divine. It sits in the path of strong oceanic trade winds, and “welcomes” them in two significant yearly blasts. October and November lie between these two blustery windows.
Audley Travel (01993 460 210) offers a 14-day Essential Seychelles Island-Hopping break from £5,500 per person. Find more of the best hotels in the Seychelles.
