Trains are expected to be cancelled and delayed by up to 60 minutes today after passengers were trapped in a tunnel for two hours last night.
Members of the public were evacuated from the Thameslink service after the route experienced a failure of the electricity supply in the London St Pancras International area. A spokesperson told us teams were working to get all passengers off the train, which became stuck between London St Pancras and West Hampstead Thameslink in the north of the capital at around 8pm.
Now Thameslink's website warns of delays expected across the whole network, affecting services on East Midlands Railways, and all operations through central London. Some trains will be cancelled, it has warned as teams battle to resolve the issues before Thursday's rush hour.

The following services will be suspended until further notice:
Fewer trains than usual will run between Bedford and Three Bridges, and also between London Blackfriars and Sevenoaks.
Trains between Bedford and Brighton will instead run between Bedford and London St Pancras International, and between Brighton and London Blackfriars.
Trains between Peterborough and Horsham will instead run between Peterborough and London Kings Cross, and between Horsham and London Blackfriars.
Trains between Rainham and Luton will instead run between Rainham and Dartford.
Thameslink has said it is now carrying out "controlled and safe evacuations."

If you are travelling between London and Luton or Bedford
You can use East Midlands Railway services between Bedford, Luton, Luton Airport Parkway, and London St Pancras.
If you are travelling between London and Peterborough
You can use LNER services between Peterborough, Stevenage, and London King's Cross.
If you are travelling between London and Sutton / Wimbledon
You can instead travel to London Victoria for services towards Sutton, and from London Waterloo and Clapham Junction, you can use South Western Railway services towards Wimbledon.
If you are travelling between Gatwick Airport / Three Bridges and Horsham
You can use Southern services between Three Bridges and Horsham, and also Metrobus routes between these stations.
If you have not yet started your journey, please delay travelling until much later on or tomorrow.
No trains can run between London Blackfriars and Kentish Town in either direction until further notice.
If you are travelling now, we cannot guarantee you will be able to reach your destination, and any journey you take will take at least 60 minutes longer than usual and will include using alternative transport operators through the central London area.
We'd recommend travelling to an alternate station such as London Victoria using alternative Southern and Gatwick Express services. You can also use Southeastern High Speed services between London St Pancras and Rainham.
If you need to travel to the airport for a flight this evening please make sure to allow at least 60 minutes of extra time. You will be required to use an alternative route or make your own arrangements for travel.
East Midlands Railway have relaxed some of their usual ticket restrictions. If you hold an ‘Advance Ticket’ which is usually valid on a specific train you may use it to travel on any of their trains on this route.
You should use alternative routes which will be most comfortable and the quickest way to get where you need to be. Your ticket can be used at no extra cost to travel via the following alternative routes:

Thameslink has warmed of major delays until the end of the day due to the electrical supply failure in the London St Pancras International area.
"A failure of the electricity supply in the London St Pancras International area means that all lines are blocked. As a result, trains running across the whole Thameslink network may be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes or revised.
"Major disruption is expected until the end of the day."
Passengers have been urged to check their Thameslink journey after an electrical supply outage left one train stranded in London.
A Thameslink spokesperson said in a post shared to X/Twitter: "Before travelling this evening, please make sure to check your journey at http://nationalrail.co.uk or on the Thameslink app.
" We're updating our live departure boards with the latest train information"
Passenger Charles Francis told Thameslink other people on board were unable to call family members to tell them about the situation and that they needed to get off "quickly."
He added on X/Twitter: "Can you please allow a controlled evacuation of the trains? People have been stuck for almost two hours with no water or access to plugs for charging phones, resulting in no contact with family members. You need to sort this quickly."
Passenger Goran Kray complained of the situation on the train to Thameslink on social media.
He said: "Let's swap places mate so that we can preach to you about staying calm in a carriage with no power, aircon, water and total lack of information. Having been in this situation since 19:42."

Matt Dunn said passengers trapped on the train had started to feel ill due to the heat and lack of water.
In a response to Thameslink on X/Twitter he said: "Passengers are starting to feel ill due to heat and lack of water. You need to get us off this train. Please allow a controlled evacuation."

A Thameslink spokesperson told the Mirror they are working to get passengers out from a tunnel where they have been trapped since 8pm.
