BUFFALO, N.Y. — The westbound lanes on the New York State Thruway are open again.

“The commercial vehicle ban is still in effect from Exit 46 to the Pennsylvania state line in both directions,” Hochul said on social media. “If you’re traveling: Use caution and don’t crowd the plow.”
Despite the reopening, state and local officials are urging people to stay off the roads and stay home, if possible.
A Lake Effect Snow Warning has been issued for Southern Erie, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, Wyoming, and Allegany counties from 7 a.m. Friday through 7 p.m. Monday. Multiple feet of snow possible in some spots.
A second Lake Effect Snow Warning has been issued for northern Erie County and Genesee County, but the timeframe is different. It starts 7 a.m. Saturday and ends 7 p.m. Sunday. Storm Team 2 said this warning really isn’t for the city and Northtowns but more for the immediate Southtowns.
