EasyJet grounded at least 20 flights on routes linking Amsterdam with Belfast, Edinburgh, Liverpool, and Luton. British Airways cancelled return services from both Heathrow and London City. Additional European carriers also suspended operations to the Dutch capital as reduced runway capacity persisted.

Long-haul arrivals and critical connections were given priority as runway availability remained constrained. Despite these efforts, aircraft movements were significantly limited throughout the day.
Operational challenges emerged early when two long-haul inbound flights were diverted to Brussels. These included a KLM service arriving from Seoul and a TUI flight from Cape Verde, indicating the scale of disruption before European traffic volumes reached peak levels.

Passenger Guidance and Rights During Disruption

Passengers were advised to confirm flight status before traveling to the airport as conditions continued to change throughout the day. Monitoring airline updates became essential as departure slots and gate allocations shifted in response to weather and air traffic control limits.
Despite the weather-related nature of the cancellations, affected passengers retained rights under European air passenger regulations. These included the option of rebooking on the next available service or receiving a refund. Airlines also committed to providing meals, accommodation, and ground transport when overnight delays became unavoidable.
