Storm chances ramp up heading into the weekend.
Saturday morning looks quiet, but it will be warm and becoming very muggy. A warm front moves in from the south, and a dryline will move into the west. SW OK will be hot with 90s on the way. Along and south of the warm front, the atmosphere will be primed for severe storms. Instability (food for storms) will be extreme. HOWEVER, the cap (lid) will be strong as well. If the cap winds out, we won’t see many storms. If the cap is broken, storms will explode rapidly.
All this to say the chance for storms in OKC is 20%. Chances south are higher. We still don’t know how many storms we will see Saturday, but any storm that develops could produce very large hail, damaging winds and pose a low tornado threat.

More Jetstream speed and higher humidity comes into play Sunday. The cap (lid) is still in play, but may not have as much of a influence. We are expecting more storms on Sunday and the threats are ramped up a notch.
Sunday morning into midday looks quiet. Storms chances go up between 3-5 PM. The dryline sets up in western OK and regions east of the boundary could see storms. Storms on Sunday will be capable of baseball size hail, damaging winds of 80 mph, and tornadoes. The chance of storms for OKC is 40%. This means storms are not locked in, but possible.
