RFEF Postpones Spain’s Trip to Elche Due to Weather Conditions – RFEF

Following the red weather alert issued by the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) for Spain’s eastern region and the mobility restrictions established by local authorities in the affected areas, the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has requested authorization from UEFA to carry out all official pre-match activities for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match against Georgia at the Ciudad del Fútbol in Las Rozas.
Accordingly, Spain’s official training session will take place as scheduled at the Ciudad del Fútbol in Las Rozas at 11:00 a.m. (with the first 15 minutes open to the media), while the official press conference with Luis de la Fuente and Mikel Merino will be held at 1:00 p.m. in the Salón Villalonga at the same venue. The national team will travel to Elche on Saturday morning.
In addition, in line with the measures announced by local authorities in Elche — which include the suspension of all scheduled activities for Friday, 10 October, and a recommendation to limit travel except for essential reasons — the RFEF has decided to cancel the 14th Legal Conference, which was due to take place in Elche on Saturday, 11 October. The RFEF Executive Board meeting planned for the same day in Elche has also been suspended.
The Royal Spanish Football Federation remains in constant communication with the relevant local authorities and will provide timely updates regarding the operational arrangements for the international match between Spain and Georgia, to be played at the Martínez Valero Stadium in Elche on Saturday, 11 October, at 8:45 p.m.
