Travel lovers know there are all sorts of tips and tricks you can try to improve your packing. There are plenty of solutions for packing clothes, from packing cubes to vacuum bags. Similarly, you can pick up a range of travel cases to keep your jewellery tangle-free.
However, you don't have to spend money on a jewellery box to separate your necklaces and bracelets. A social media user has wowed jewellery fans by sharing a simple trick that prevents necklaces from knotting together.
As seen in a viral TikTok post shared by @mrsvlifehacks, you can use a straw to help separate your necklaces. Simply unfasten your jewellery, pass one end through the straw, and then refasten the clasp.
The video caption read: "I wish I knew this sooner," and several commenters shared similar remarks. Reacting to the video, which has been viewed more than a million times, someone said: "Great idea." Another impressed viewer agreed: "Great travel hack."
Someone added: "Perfect travel tip," and a commenter praised: "Interesting." A different viewer shared: "This is why I downloaded this app again." Someone added: "I learned this from my mom," while another revealed they've sworn by the hack for decades.
Alternatively, you may wish to store jewellery in a ziplock bag or pill organisation case. A pill case might be helpful if you're carrying other items, such as earrings.
Writing for Queensmith, design consultant and gemmologist Emily Dixon explained: "If you need a solution for storing smaller jewellery items and don't have a travel jewellery box, pill organisers are a great and inexpensive alternative.
"These secure plastic cases are perfect for storing small jewellery pieces such as earrings and wedding rings. You can also use the compartments to organise your jewellery according to the outfits you plan to wear each day."
