Lake Effect snow hits Central New York
Syracuse, N.Y. — Onondaga County and City of Syracuse officials on Tuesday morning announced it has closed all its offices due to the winter storm hitting Central New York.
All state and city courts in Onondaga, Oswego, Oneida and Herkimer counties will be closed to the public Tuesday, state court officials announced Tuesday morning. Emergency matters will be handled virtually.
The state also closed the courts in several western NY counties due to the storm: Erie, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Niagara & Wyoming.
The Rosamond Gifford Zoo also announced it has closed.
Onondaga County also issued a travel advisory on Monday asking resident to avoid unnecessary travel.
The lake effect storm is intense, with high winds and blizzard-like conditions. Two to three feet are expected to fall in some areas.
A winter storm warning remains in effect until 7 a.m. Wednesday.
