Northern Line hit with severe delays – latest travel updates – London Evening Standard

Commuters are facing delays to their journey with several London Underground lines hit with disruption.
The Northern line is experiencing severe delays due to a signal fault at Stockwell with passengers told to avoid it where possible.
The Central line is also facing delays due to train cancellations.

Passengers are being told to avoid the Northern line where possible as rush hour gets underway amid the problems from the signal failure at Stockwell.
TfL said there were still severe delays across the entire line as it works to fix the problem.
Tickets are being accepted on London Buses, London Trams, South Western Railway, Thameslink and Southeastern.
TfL’s website reads: “Please avoid the Northern line where possible. You will find it quicker to use alternative routes if you can.”

After 23:45 each evening, no westbound service from Camden Road to Willesden Junction.
The 23:59 and 00:15 services from Stratford will terminate at Camden Road.
Use London Overground services from Euston to Willesden Junction, Northern line from Camden Town, or local bus routes 1, 24, 46 88 and 214 from Camden Road / Camden Town.
Point failures are among the most common causes of rail delays, especially in busy urban networks like London Underground or Network Rail.
They occur when the track points — the movable sections of rail that guide trains from one track to another — don’t operate correctly.
The 22:17 Abbey Wood to Reading train will terminate at Maidenhead.
Customers travelling to Twyford and Reading should change at Maidenhead to the 23:38 GWR service to Twyford and Reading.
Engineering work is taking place on the Suffragette line between Gospel Oak and Barking Riverside, closing all lines.
As a result, the following trains will be cancelled until Friday:
Engineering work is taking place on the Mildmay Line between Willesden Junction and Clapham Junction, closing all lines overnight until Friday morning.
The earlier broken down freight train in the Kintbury area has now been moved, allowing the line towards Reading to reopen.
As service recovers, trains running between Bedwyn and Reading may still be cancelled or delayed by up to 20 minutes.
Disruption is expected until 4pm.
Commuters in London have been advised to stay away from the Northern line as signal problems continue to disrupt travel across the city for a third consecutive day.
Since Sunday evening, passengers on the Northern line have faced delays, crowded trains, and service cancellations.
Transport for London (TfL) warns that major delays across the entire line will continue as engineers work to repair a “signal failure at Stockwell.”
London roads are free of any serious disruption.
There may be some moderate delays on the A2.
