FCM Travel, the trusted business travel division of Flight Centre Travel Group, has unveiled its top cities for business travel in 2024. These rankings aren’t just about numbers—they tell a story of where professionals are heading to connect, innovate, and grow.
This list was carefully crafted using flight booking data from across the U.S., offering a real-world snapshot of where business is thriving. With a global footprint spanning over 90 countries and partnerships with Fortune and FTSE 100 companies, FCM Travel is uniquely positioned to share insights that reflect the heartbeat of business travel.
The usual stars shine bright in 2024, with New York, Chicago, Boston, Dallas, and Washington D.C. maintaining their status as powerhouses of commerce and networking. These cities aren’t just destinations; they’re where deals are closed, ideas are born, and industries are reshaped.
But the real story lies in the momentum of rising cities. Philadelphia and Cincinnati, for instance, recorded impressive growth of 4.8% and 4.3% in the second half of the year. These smaller yet vibrant cities are showing they can compete on the big stage.
And then there’s the South and West—regions that have captured the imagination of business travelers. Orlando (+10.8%), Charlotte (+9%), Nashville (+8.1%), Denver (+5%), and Houston (+4.2%) are more than just emerging markets; they’re destinations redefining the corporate travel map with their dynamic cultures and booming industries.
Internationally, cities like London, Tokyo, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, and Singapore continued to dominate as go-to destinations for U.S. businesses. These global hubs are more than places to meet—they’re cultural crossroads where the future of industries is shaped.
These numbers paint a compelling picture, but behind them are the stories of people—leaders flying across the country to sign a critical contract, teams gathering to strategize for the next big thing, and professionals seeking to build bridges across cultures. Business travel isn’t just about getting from point A to B; it’s about fostering connections that move the world forward.
The future of business travel is evolving. Companies are increasingly prioritizing sustainability, choosing destinations with robust green initiatives and efficient transport. Hybrid work models are influencing travel patterns, making regional hubs more critical than ever.
As the world continues to change, FCM Travel is committed to helping professionals adapt, thrive, and make meaningful connections—because in the end, business travel is about people and possibilities, not just places.
“It’s been an exciting year for business travel, as more and more companies have embraced the return to the road, said Billy McDonough, FCM President, Americas. “In major markets around the country, we have seen a resurgence in travel, especially in cities with robust and diverse business communities. The growing enthusiasm for business travel has been evident throughout the year. And with traveler confidence on the rise and increased opportunities for growth in cities all across the U.S., I expect that the demand for travel will carry through into next year.”
