Monsoon Travel Trends 2025: Wellness Retreats And Culinary Vacations To Take Center Stage? – HerZindagi

Monsoon Travel Trends 2025: As the monsoon season approaches in 2025 and in some regions it’s almost there, upscale/ luxury travellers are seeking a different kind of experience compared to the usual summer and winter vacations. With the rains coming a little early this year as per the India Meteorological Department (IMD) and giving a serene atmosphere, it’s no surprise that the travel trends during this time are evolving. From luxurious stays to personalised itineraries, the preferences of premium travellers during the monsoon season are shifting, and we spoke with Saurabh Gahoi, Senior Vice President of Ramee Group of Hotels, to understand what upscale travellers will prefer:
One of the standout trends this year is the rise in wellness-focused travel. With mental well-being becoming a key priority, travellers are seeking retreats that offer more than a quick escape. They’re looking for spaces that provide rejuvenation through yoga, Ayurvedic treatments, meditation, and spa experiences. Saurabh Gahoi says, “At Ramee Group of Hotels, we’re observing a rise in bookings for experiential getaways travellers are leaning towards wellness retreats, culinary vacations, and immersive stays that allow them to enjoy the ambience of the monsoons from the comfort of the property.”
Wellness Retreats
Destinations like Lonavala and Tirupati, known for their peaceful, serene settings, are especially popular. The rainfall, cool breezes, and green landscapes create the ideal environment for relaxation and healing.
Another clear shift is in how travellers are booking. Spontaneity is shaping monsoon travel decisions in 2025. Many guests are waiting until mid-week to decide on weekend getaways. Short booking windows are now the norm, and hotels are adapting with more flexible cancellation policies and tempting weekday discounts.
Saurabh Gahoi shared, “Guests are making last-minute plans, often deciding mid-week for the upcoming weekend. Flexibility in cancellation policies and attractive weekday discounts are helping drive these decisions. Tech-savvy travellers are also relying on direct bookings via hotel websites, where they can find personalised deals and value-added inclusions like spa credits, meals, or local excursions.”

3. Rise of Boutique Hotels And Private Villas

Boutique Hotels
One of the biggest trends in 2025 is the preference for boutique hotels, private villas, and exclusive resorts. With the rain enhancing the natural beauty of certain locations, upscale travellers want to stay in places that offer seclusion, comfort, and impeccable service. Private villas with indoor-outdoor living spaces, beautiful views, and personal chefs are in high demand during the monsoon season.

4. Experiences That Blend Adventure And Luxury

While luxury travellers are looking for comfort, they also want adventure, and monsoon is the perfect time to experience nature at its best. Rain-soaked landscapes offer a magical setting for activities like private guided treks, nature photography tours, and more. Saurabh Gahoi explains, “Travellers are no longer just chasing destinations, they are looking for a mix of comfort, safety, and local flavour and the monsoon season has become a compelling time to experience India’s serene beauty, minus the usual tourist rush.”

5. Culinary Vacations

Culinary Vacations
Food is becoming a central theme of travel. During the monsoon months, travellers are attracted to culinary holidays that allow them to explore local flavours, learn traditional recipes, and enjoy seasonal delicacies made fresh from local ingredients. These experiences often include chef-led cooking sessions, curated tasting menus, and farm-to-table meals and all without having to step far from the property/ hotel. This kind of travel is about storytelling through food and connecting with local culture in a memorable way.
As we look ahead, it’s clear that the monsoon season is no longer just a time to stay inside. With the right planning, it can be the most memorable and transformative season for upscale travellers.
