London comes alive this winter as a powerful celebration of global unity, where the brilliance of Mexico, the heartbeat of Grenada, the soul of the Caribbean, the spice of India, and the sparkle of New York blend beneath one luminous skyline. Through a stunning transformation of Somerset House, Virgin Atlantic Holidays turns the city into a breathtaking global wonderland, where every corner captures the essence of travel, culture, and imagination.
This immersive experience redefines the meaning of winter travel, inviting visitors to embrace the warmth of the world without ever leaving London. From Mexican-inspired cocktails and Grenadian rhythms to Indian flavours and New York sophistication, each moment embodies the joy of discovery and connection. Virgin Atlantic Holidays has created more than a festive attraction — it’s a global journey that transforms tradition into adventure and brings the world’s spirit home for the season.

Opening on 12 November, Virgin Atlantic Holidays returns to the iconic Skate at Somerset House with a spectacular new edition of its winter celebration. As Somerset House marks its 25th anniversary finale, the event unveils a destination-themed Christmas tree and a luxurious Clubhouse lounge that capture the essence of world travel. Guests can savour international cuisine, signature cocktails, and the warmth of faraway destinations — all within London’s most magical festive setting.
A Winter Clubhouse Experience Like No Other

The Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse at Skate is designed as a reimagined winter retreat inspired by the airline’s renowned airport lounges. Nestled beside the rink, the space offers guests a stylish escape from the winter chill, complete with travel-inspired décor, comfortable seating, and an atmosphere that radiates modern luxury. Every design element reflects Virgin Atlantic’s global identity — from the chic touches reminiscent of its Los Angeles lounge to the soft lighting that invites guests to unwind and indulge.
The cocktail menu transports visitors around the world through taste. Drinks include the sun-soaked Mexican Margarita inspired by Cancún, the island-themed Escape to Grenada, and the Empire Espresso Martini capturing the spirit of New York City. Classic favourites return with a twist, including the Redhead cocktail and the signature Virgin Atlantic Bloody Mary made with Sapling Climate Positive Vodka. For those craving something effervescent, Hambledon’s English fizz adds a sparkling touch, while the Perfect Pairings menu offers curated blends of gin, tequila, and fine mixers.

Warm beverages are just as global, featuring Twinings teas and rich Swiss hot chocolate. Flavours such as Glow — a blend of strawberry and cucumber — and Classic Chai infused with Indian spices bring a sense of comfort and discovery to every cup. On the food side, guests can sample favourites inspired by the airline’s onboard menu, including Truffle Parmesan Popcorn, Nocerella Olives, and Savour Smiths crisps infused with the flavours of the iconic Virgin Atlantic Bloody Mary. The Cherry Pie in the Sky ice cream, created by Northern Bloc, adds a sweet finish that celebrates the spirit of flight and innovation.
Adding to the experience is a VIP “Royal Box” seating area offering rink-side luxury, alongside a heritage wall that celebrates the airline’s design history. A travel-themed photobooth completes the scene, allowing visitors to capture festive memories inspired by destinations across the globe.
A Christmas Tree That Celebrates Global Journeys
This year’s 40-foot Christmas tree, designed by Virgin Atlantic Holidays, takes inspiration from travellers’ keepsakes and adventures around the world. Titled Bringing the World Home for Christmas, the tree is more than decoration — it’s a storytelling piece. Every ornament represents a memory: shimmering baubles from Las Vegas, trinkets from the Caribbean, and treasures collected across continents.
Together, these ornaments create a vivid mosaic of wanderlust and nostalgia, capturing the essence of global discovery. Visitors can stroll beneath the glowing branches, each glimmering with tales of adventure, and reflect on their own journeys and cherished travel moments.
A Caribbean Celebration on Ice
Adding tropical energy to London’s winter, Grenada will host a special themed evening at Skate on 4 December. Known as the “Spice Isle” for its nutmeg, cinnamon, and aromatic air, the island will transform Somerset House’s courtyard into a colourful celebration of Caribbean culture.
Guests can trade snowflakes for sea breezes as the rink comes alive with steel drum rhythms, carnival lights, and the scent of authentic island dishes. The featured cocktail, Escape to Grenada, blends rum, tropical fruit, and warming spices to create a sensory journey to the Caribbean sunset. The event promises to deliver a night of warmth, rhythm, and connection — echoing the spirit of the destination itself.
From its storytelling Christmas tree to its elegant Clubhouse lounge and tropical celebration nights, Virgin Atlantic Holidays is transforming Somerset House into a hub of global joy and connection. This winter, the experience invites everyone to celebrate the beauty of travel, the spirit of togetherness, and the memories that make the festive season truly unforgettable.
