Mega travel expo IITM begins in Kochi; over 100 Indian, international packages on display – Onmanorama

Kochi: The 25th edition of the India International Travel Mart (IITM), one of the country’s premier travel and tourism exhibitions, began at the Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium, Kadavanthra, Kochi on Friday.
Key stakeholders from travel, tourism, and hospitality sectors have converged in the city for the three-day event which offers a platform for networking, innovation, and collaboration. The event will be on till January 19.
The exhibition features more than 100 exhibitors representing 15 Indian states and five international destinations. The event showcases a variety of travel options, including adventure tourism, cultural experiences, pilgrimages, wildlife tours, and wedding destinations. Along with Kerala,  Telangana, Karnataka, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu have displayed their tourism highlights at the expo. Stalls by participants from Turkey, Malaysia, Vietnam, Bali, Thailand and Bhutan are among the exhibition’s highlights.
Prominent figures in the travel and tourism sector, including IITM director Rohit Hangal, co-director Sanjay Hakhu, Jose Pradeep, executive committee member, South India Hotels and Restaurants Association (SIHRA); UC Riyaz, governing board member, India Convention Promotion Bureau (ICPB); Mariyamma Jose, chairperson, Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI); Nirmala Lily, president, SKAL Kochi; and K Rajkumar (CEO, Kerala Travel Mart Society) attended the inaugural ceremony.
Rohit Hangal said the event is a “gateway to shaping the future of travel through partnerships and innovation".
"This year’s IITM will emphasise sustainable tourism, promoting eco-friendly practices, community-based tourism projects, and wellness travel. With the theme of responsible travel, the exhibition aims to inspire industry stakeholders and travellers to adopt greener approaches to tourism. This is the biggest multi-destination travel exhibition in Kochi, offering more than 1,000 holiday packages," he said.
The expo will be open from 11 am to 6 pm. Entry is free, but on-site registration is mandatory.
