There is stand still traffic along the M4 as the road is closed due to two accidents this morning. The M4 westbound from J28 A48 Tredegar Park to J30 A4232 Pentwyn Link Road (Cardiff Gate) is closed with slow moving traffic in the opposite direction caused by onlookers.
Two accidents occurred within 200 metres on the M4 Westbound around 7.30am this morning. Emergency services attended the M4 Westbound after reports were made at 7.28am of a crash.
Fire crews attended the scene and used hydraulic cutting equipment to free a person in the vehicle.
Shortly afterwards a call was received regarding a four vehicle crash 200 metres from the original incident. South Wales Fire and Rescue Service left the scene at 8.13am.
Traffic cameras show stationary traffic as those attempting to join the motorway are diverted. There are severe delays of around 76 minutes on the M4 due to the incident.
AA traffic news says: "Severe delays of 53 minutes on M4 westbound between J26 A4051 (Malpas Road) and J29 A48(M). Average speed five mph."

A spokesperson for the service said:
SWFRS received a call at approximately 07.28 am to reports of a RTC on the M4 Westbound, Junction 28 Tredegar Park to Junction 29 Castleton.
Crews and appliances from Duffryn, Roath and Malpas stations attended and used hydraulic cutting equipment to free a person in the vehicle. The crews subsequently cleared the area.
Police and the ambulance service were also in attendance.
Shortly afterwards, at a call was received regarding a RTC involving four cars within 200 metres of the initial call and the crews and appliances who were on-scene, cleared the carriageway, using Gojacks. The stop message was given at 08.13 am.
AA traffic maps show slow moving traffic as emergency services remain on the scene with lane one still closed.
AA traffic news are reporting delays of 94 minutes with delays increasing on the M4 Westbound between J25A A4042 (Newport / Cwmbran) and J29 A48(M).
The average speed remains at 5mph.
Lanes two and three are now open with emergency services on the scene of the crash. Lane one is still blocked with heavy congestion in the area.
Delays of up to 40 minutes are reported.
A diversion has been put in place via the A48 past the Garden Centre to Ponprennau then the A4232 Pentwyn Link Road.
There are long delays due the accident reported by traffic monitoring site Inrix at 8.01am this morning. The M4 Westbound is currently closed with long delays from J28 A48 (Tredegar Park) to J30 A4232 Pentwyn Link Road (Cardiff Gate).
Congestion has been reported up to J26 (Maplas Road).
