London travel news LIVE: Severe delays on parts of the London Underground – London Evening Standard

Severe delays are being reported across the entire Piccadilly line this morning, while passengers on the Victoria line are facing minor delays across the route.

National Rail users are being reminded that they might be entitled to compensation if they faced delays in their journey today.
Those impacted by the points failure at Barking earlier today could be able to apply for compensation.
In order to make a claim, remember to keep your train ticket with you and make a note of your journey.

As we brace for a sweltering weekend, here’s a reminder that people travelling through Euston Station can top up their water free of charge.
There are currently no heat-related delays on London’s transport network, but it’s best to stay up to date in case that changes.
According to National Rail: “Heat can cause overhead lines to expand and sag, line-side fires and also cause rails to buckle.”

A couple of ongoing incidents around the capital are resulting in road closures, diversions and traffic this morning. This includes:
Minor delays are continuing on the Victoria line today due to a track fault at Walthamstow Central.
The A112 Hoe Street Southbound road is currently blocked in Walthamstow, and it’s leading to long delays.
According to INRIX, congestion has backed up to the North Circular and travel time through the area is currently around 30 minutes.
Due to an earlier stalled vehicle, there’s still some residual queueing traffic on the M25 anticlockwise between J22 and J23.
All lanes are now open, and traffic is starting to ease, but it’s not entirely clear yet.
We have more details coming in about the Barking train delays.
National Rail says its impacting trains operating between London Fenchurch Street and Grays / Laindon / Pitsea / Leigh-on-Sea / Southend Central / Shoeburyness.
This is due to a points failure that is expected to cause delays until 10am this morning.
A points failure at Barking is causing delays to trains running through the area.
According to National Rail, there are delays of up to 15 minutes and some trains have been cancelled.
Disruption to Barking services could go on for another hour or so.
There is currently no service between Arnos Grove and Acton Town westbound due to today’s signal failure.
Severe delays are being reported across the rest of the Piccadilly line.
Passengers can use their tickets on alternative services this morning.
