A heads up for anyone looking to use Blurton Road, off the A50 tomorrow – it's going to be closed. Stoke-on-Trent City Council say repairs are due to be carried out between the A50 island towards Blurton. The closure will run from 9.30am until 4.30pm on Wednesday.
Signs have gone up warning motorists.
Police are using an unamrked HGV today to target Staffordshire drivers using their phones while behind the wheel. Traditionally the force tends to use the truck on routes such as the A500, A50 and M6.
Today the team are out, engaged in #OpTramLine utilising an unmarked HGV provided by @HighwaysWMIDS.

As we get to 9am, it's still busy. Here are some more busy locations:
Here are all the busy places:
A van has broken down at Knutsford Services on the northbound carriageway. A lane is out on the slip road from the services.
Cadent are back in Milton. Gas works are taking place on Newford Crescent, just off Leek New Road, and it is closed between the A53 and Downfield Place.
Works in that part of the village have become a familiar sight for residents. StokeonTrentLive reported back at the end of 2021 how the stretch between Foxley Lane and Newford Crescent had to be totally shut off as engineers replaced a 70-year-old pipe. A year later and part of Newford Crescent was closed to allow workers to overhaul the ageing system while emergency repairs had to be carried out in the neighbourhood too.
In 2023 and four-way lights went up at Maunders Road's junctions with Foxley Lane for more gas works. The latest scheme is expected to be wrapped up on Thursday at the latest.
Newford Crescent had previously been made one-way with A53 looking to access the village usually turning at it's junction over from Bellerton Lane. However this closure means they'll have to use the turn opposite Norton Lane – which could cause some congestion on Leek New Road.
There are currently queues in the usual places on the A500 – through Audley and Hanchurch – both on the approaches to the M6. It's a little busier than usual on the approach to Junction 15 with delays back to Hanford.
Over on the A50 and it's busy in Uttoxeter at the McDonald's roundabout, which will come as no surprise to motorists. In the city and it's busy already on the westbound A50 between Lightwood and Sideway.
