Royal Caribbean International recently shared that all upcoming stops at its private port of Labadee, Haiti, are canceled because of safety worries. This will touch cruise plans from late October 2025 to April 2026. The line stressed that the choice came after careful watching of the security scene in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and that keeping guests and crew safe is the main goal.
Reasons for the Suspension
Cruise lines made the difficult call to drop Labadee port stops because the situation in Haiti has grown too risky. Gang violence in and around Port-au-Prince has worsened this past year. Because of this ongoing turmoil, lines like Royal Caribbean have taken another look at the safety picture before setting itineraries. Labadee, the line’s private beach, sits behind a secure fence miles from the capital, yet lines understand that the unrest can cast a shadow even this far from the action. Guest safety always comes first, so on short notice new ports have jumped in to replace the canceled calls.

In the first quarter of 2025, Royal Caribbean resumed visits to Labadee after an eight-month suspension. However, the situation deteriorated, leading to repeated cancellations, including a major decision in April 2025 to halt all calls to the destination for several months. A third wave of cancellations was announced in late July 2025, affecting all visits planned through October of that year.
Affected Itineraries and Alternative Destinations
A recent update has canceled multiple Royal Caribbean cruises set to call at Labadee between late October 2025 and April 2026. Ships impacted by this decision are Adventure of the Seas, Explorer of the Seas, Freedom of the Seas, Independence of the Seas, Jewel of the Seas, Oasis of the Seas, and Symphony of the Seas. Passengers with reservations on these sailings should prepare for an itinerary change, as the port in Haiti will no longer be included.

To mitigate the disruption, Royal Caribbean has rearranged itineraries, replacing Labadee with alternative destinations. Affected passengers will enjoy additional time at ports such as Cozumel, Mexico; Nassau, Bahamas; Grand Turk, Turks and Caicos; Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic; and Falmouth, Jamaica. These destinations are considered safe and offer a variety of excursions and experiences for guests. Additionally, some itineraries have been adjusted to provide more time at these alternative ports of call.
Communication to Guests
Royal Caribbean has apologized for any trouble the cancellation may have caused, and the line emphasizes that guest safety is the top priority. In a letter to everyone already booked, the company recognized how important this change is and again promised to U, that a first-class level of safety is always the starting place for any cruise.

Since conditions in Haiti are still uncertain, the cruise line is carefully evaluating its routes. For those needing to change travel plans, the firm advises guests to log in to the Royal Caribbean app or website or to call the guest services line for the fastest and clearest answers.
A Guide for Travelers Affected by the Cancellations
For those whose cruises have been affected by this suspension, here are a few things to keep in mind:
- Check Your Itinerary: Review your booking for updated departure information and new port stops. Royal Caribbean is providing alternative destinations to replace Labadee.
- Excursion Refunds: If you had planned an excursion in Labadee, you will be refunded automatically. Be sure to confirm the refund has been processed via your original payment method.
- Customer Service: If you have specific questions or concerns about the impact on your cruise, contact Royal Caribbean’s customer service. They will guide you through the next steps and offer support for rebooking, refunds, or any necessary adjustments.
- Stay Informed: Keep an eye on official updates from Royal Caribbean. The cruise line is continuously monitoring the security situation in Haiti and will communicate any changes to travelers promptly.
- Explore Alternative Destinations: While the cancellation of Labadee is unfortunate, the new ports of call offer exciting alternatives. These destinations are safe and offer a wealth of cultural, historical, and scenic experiences.
Overview
Royal Caribbean recently announced that it will stop stopping at Labadee due to safety worries in Haiti. The trouble is mostly coming from a rise in gang violence in Port-au-Prince. Although this news may disrupt many cruise planners, the line is working to lessen the trouble. Guests can pick another port to visit, and anyone who booked a shore excursion that can’t go will get a full refund. Travelers should double-check their cruise details and call customer service if they have more questions or need help.
