Klook, a prominent experiences platform in the Asia Pacific, has announced a new partnership with Cover-More Europe to introduce a Car Hire Excess Insurance solution. This initiative, part of Klook Protect, allows travellers in France, Spain, and Germany to purchase insurance directly at checkout, offering reimbursement for high out-of-pocket excess fees often incurred if a rental car is damaged or stolen.
The collaboration aims to simplify the insurance purchase process, enabling customers to avoid costly excess protection offers typically sold at rental desks. This strategic move aligns with findings from Klook’s Travel Pulse 2026 study, which highlights a growing trend among European travellers towards multi-destination trips. The study notes that 63% of European travellers are now opting for such trips, necessitating car rentals for deeper exploration.
Furthermore, 81% of travellers plan to maintain or increase their transport spending this year, underscoring the demand for flexible travel options like car rentals. CS Soong, CEO of Klook Protect, stated, “This partnership marks a strategic step in expanding our capability to offer insurance products to customers in Europe.”
Jason Whelan of Cover-More Europe expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, emphasising the shared commitment to enhancing customer confidence and protection during car rentals. The insurance policy covers various scenarios, including vehicle damage, theft, and everyday disruptions like lockouts or lost keys, ensuring travellers have peace of mind.
This expansion signifies a significant growth in Klook’s transport vertical, catering to evolving travel behaviours and providing a seamless, integrated insurance solution for European customers
