Iowa weather: Frigid Monday continues with winds starting to calm down – KCCI

It’s staying cold Monday, but we’re starting to see the winds calm down.

Expect temperatures to climb into the mid-teens this afternoon, but it’ll still feel like zero.
The rest of the week is looking pretty manageable.
Temperatures will rebound into the mid- and upper-30s Tuesday afternoon. Expect a high of 38 in Des Moines on Tuesday and 36 on Wednesday.
A cold front will move in for New Year’s Eve into New Year’s Day. This will knock temperatures down to start the new year, along with some snow chances in the northeastern portion of the state.
Temperatures will then rebound again with 40s returning Sunday and next Monday.

Today: Windy. Cloudy skies will become partly cloudy in the afternoon. High 19F. Winds NW at 20 to 30 mph. Winds could occasionally gust over 40 mph.
Tonight: Clear. Low 13F. Winds NW at 10 to 20 mph.
Tomorrow: Partly cloudy. High 38F. Winds WSW at 10 to 20 mph.
Tomorrow Night: A few clouds. Low 28F. Winds WNW at 10 to 15 mph.
