The New Terminal E Ticketing Lobby at Intercontinental Airport of Houston (IAH) is set to redefine the travel experience for countless travelers, especially those flying with United Airlines. Officially opening on February 24, this innovative lobby arrives just in time for the bustling Spring Break period, promising a plethora of enhancements aimed at streamlining processes and boosting passenger convenience.
Previously, United Airlines passengers had to navigate the inconvenience of checking in at Terminal C before taking a Skyway trip to Terminal E. This often time-consuming detour is now a thing of the past. The new facility restores the original intent of Terminal E—efficient, direct check-ins, and a smoother start to the travel journey. With the addition of 10 advanced TSA security lanes and an 11-lane Departures Curb, the lobby not only speeds up the check-in process but also significantly improves the security screening experience. This timely upgrade is part of a broader effort to enhance the operational flow and passenger satisfaction at one of the nation’s busiest airports.
A significant upgrade awaits travelers at George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) with the unveiling of the new Terminal E Ticketing Lobby slated for February 24. Timed perfectly for Spring Break, this cutting-edge facility is initially dedicated to United Airlines passengers, aiming to streamline the check-in process while reviving Terminal E TSA and the terminal’s Departures Curb.
What’s New?

Simplified Check-ins: United Airlines passengers will now enjoy the convenience of checking in directly at Terminal E, bypassing the previous detour to Terminal C.
Enhanced TSA Efficiency: The introduction of 10 TSA security lanes promises a swifter and more streamlined screening experience.
Restored Departures Curb: An 11-lane Departures Curb reopens, restoring drop-off access at Terminal E for the first time since its closure in 2021.

In August 2021, the closure of the old Terminal E Ticketing Lobby necessitated a less direct check-in route for United passengers. This required detour to Terminal C and a trip on the Skyway to Terminal E. The new lobby eradicates this inconvenience, reinstating a direct and intuitive check-in route directly at Terminal E gates.
“This is a big win for travelers,” said Jim Szczesniak, director of aviation for Houston Airports. “Passengers flying out of Terminal E will now have more space, faster security and a better check-in experience. This opening also helps relieve congestion at Terminal C, improving the passenger experience at Bush Airport.”
Looking Ahead
The latter part of the year will see Terminal E’s Ticketing Lobby transition into the new International Central Processor (ICP):

Carrier Relocation: International carriers will move from Terminal D to the new hub.
Advanced TSA Features: TSA capabilities will be boosted to 17 lanes equipped with cutting-edge security technology.
Upgraded Facilities: The introduction of a new baggage handling system and various concessions will enhance passenger convenience.

The ICP is set to replace both the old Terminal E and current Terminal D lobbies, streamlining the process for international departures and arrivals into a singular, efficient experience.

Massive Scale: Spanning 325,000 sq. ft., nearly three times the size of the NRG Stadium floor.
High Capacity: Designed to handle 21 million bags annually with a sophisticated baggage system.
Peak Hour Efficiency: Accommodates 3,500 vehicles during peak traffic at the Departures Curb.

Spring Break Surge
With an expected 1.8 million passengers traversing through IAH from March 6 to March 17, the opening of Terminal E Ticketing Lobby could not be more timely. This period will also herald the launch of significant new routes:

ZIPAIR to Tokyo-Narita: Starting in March.
United Airlines to Puerto Escondido, Mexico: Commencing in April.
