How to save on last minute spring break travel – WBTV

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – Spring break might cost you more this year depending on your plans.
According to AAA, domestic air fares are up 7% from last year.
Hotel stays are also up 8% from last year.
If you’re still planning a last-minute getaway, experts recommend looking into bundling airfare, hotel and rental cars to save.
All-inclusive stays or hotels with breakfast included are also ways to cut costs.
If you can be flexible when it comes to the days you’re traveling, flying Tuesday to Saturday instead of Monday to Sunday can help you save up to 20% on airfare.
If you can consider various airports near your home, that can also help you save.
For example, flights out of Raleigh or Asheville or even the regional airport in Concord can sometimes offer cheaper flights than those out of Charlotte-Douglas.
If you can drive to your destination, that’s also going to help you save.
AAA says the cost to rent a car is about the same as last year.
Gas is also 30 cents a gallon cheaper now than it was around spring break last year.
