Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) serves travelers sailing from more than one Seattle cruise terminal. The right transfer depends on whether the ship uses Bell Street Pier 66 or Smith Cove Pier 91, your arrival time, hotel plan and luggage.

Quick decision ruleConfirm the cruise terminal on the cruise line documents before choosing transportation or a pre-cruise hotel.

Seattle has two main cruise-terminal locations

Pier 66 is on the downtown waterfront, while Pier 91 is north of downtown. A hotel or transfer that is convenient for one is not automatically the best choice for the other.

Link light rail can handle part of the trip

Port of Seattle identifies Link light rail as an airport-to-downtown option. From downtown, travelers can continue to the correct terminal by walking where practical or using a taxi or rideshare. Luggage, mobility needs and sailing-day timing should drive the final choice.

Cruise-line transfers can simplify the handoff

Some cruise lines sell airport-to-terminal transportation. Compare the pickup rules, arrival-time requirements and cancellation terms with a self-arranged ride before deciding.

A pre-cruise hotel changes the route

If you arrive the day before sailing, choose the hotel around the terminal and the part of Seattle you actually want to use. The best airport transfer may be airport-to-hotel on arrival day and hotel-to-terminal the next morning.

Plan the return before embarkation

Know whether you are going directly from the ship to SEA or staying in Seattle after the cruise. Post-cruise traffic, baggage and flight departure time can make the return transfer different from the arrival plan.

Before you book

  • Confirm SEA on the airline ticket.
  • Confirm Pier 66 or Pier 91 on cruise documents.
  • Decide whether you are staying overnight before sailing.
  • Keep cruise-line transfer deadlines separate from flight arrival time.
  • Recheck terminal and pickup details shortly before travel.
