Bangkok is served by Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) and Don Mueang International Airport (DMK). The airports support different airline and route combinations and sit in different parts of the metropolitan area. A low fare only works when the arrival and any onward connection work too.
Check the code on every flight segment
BKK and DMK are separate airports. Confirm the full name on both the arrival and departure, especially when combining tickets from different airlines. Share the code with the hotel or transfer provider.
Match the airport with the hotel and itinerary
Bangkok traffic and the location of the accommodation can change the practical choice. Compare airport rail, bus, authorized taxi and app-based options using the official transportation pages for the correct airport.
Examine self-connected itineraries carefully
A low-cost domestic or regional flight may depart from a different airport than the international arrival. If the tickets are separate, baggage collection, immigration and a cross-city transfer may not be protected.
Leave a large BKK-DMK buffer
The road journey between the airports is vulnerable to traffic and operating changes. A same-day transfer should include generous time beyond the fastest estimate. When possible, choose flights that use the same Bangkok airport.
Plan the late arrival and early departure
Public transport does not operate identically around the clock. Check the arrival terminal, authorized pickup point, expected payment method and hotel access before relying on a specific option.
