he government will roll out travel and retail incentives for the year-end holiday season as part of its latest economic stimulus package, which is set to begin in October, Coordinating Economy Minister Airlangga Hartarto said on Monday.
The minister explained that the measures would include a 50 percent value-added tax (VAT) discount on airline tickets and other transportation services during selected dates around the peak Christmas and New Year holiday period.
“The government will prepare VAT relief […] It is similar to what we offered before,” Airlangga told reporters at his office.
These holiday incentives build on earlier programs, under which the government offered a 14 percent airfare discount during the June 2025 school break and a 10 percent subsidy during the 2024 year-end holiday season.

The government will also provide retail stimulus measures during the December online shopping festival, known as Harbolnas. The week-long campaign coincides with Indonesia’s popular “twin dates” e-commerce sales and is expected to generate Rp 35 trillion (US$2.1 billion) in transactions.
