HOUSTON — The government shutdown is starting to impact air travel across the country.
According to the Federal Aviation Administration’s website, it’s possible that both Bush Intercontinental Airport and Hobby Airport could be affected.
On Tuesday afternoon, the flight board at Bush didn’t show any impact, but it’s possible that flights could be delayed later Tuesday night.
Previously, the Houston Airport System said airport functions, including TSA security screening, air traffic control, and customs processing, were expected to continue without disruption despite the ongoing federal government shutdown.

A Houston man who travels for work often said he’s awaiting the impact on his business trips.
“I haven’t felt the effect yet, but I know in the next week or so, there will be an impact where the TSA agents and possibly the air traffic controllers may not be coming to work. So they’ll definitely impact my ability to travel and do my tasks that I do,” David Bello said.
The National Air Traffic Controllers Association said in a statement that thousands of aviation safety professionals were furloughed while the government was shut down.
KHOU 11 News is waiting for the Houston Airport System to provide a new statement.
