GREEN BAY, Wis. — The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) has issued a Do Not Travel advisory for 11 northeastern counties, including Sheboygan and Fond du Lac.
WisDOT says travel should be avoided entirely on all roads as a Winter Storm Warning is underway until 4 p.m. Monday. The winter storm is expected to bring life-threatening blizzard conditions including heavy snowfall, whiteout visibility and dangerously high winds.
Conditions on all major highways, rural roads and secondary routes could deteriorate to zero visibility — making even first responders unable to reach stranded vehicles and emergencies. WisDot says travel should only be considered as a last resort in an emergency during this storm.
Other counties under the Do Not Travel advisory include Brown, Calumet, Door, Kewaunee, Manitowoc, Marinette, Oconto, Outagamie and Winnebago counties.
Governor Tony Evers declared a state of emergency on Saturday evening — directing state agencies, utilities and emergency management to be prepared for a response to storm damage as blizzard conditions are expected to last through Monday.
