DANVILLE, Va. (WSET) — Motorists in downtown Danville should prepare for traffic delays as the city embarks on a four-month project to replace a waterline pipe.
The construction, which began today, stretches from North Main and Third Avenue to Meadowbrook Drive, covering about a mile.
Jason Grey, Danville Utilities Director, emphasized the importance of the project for improving water reliability and stability for customers.

"We've had a couple of breaks, water main breaks on North Main streets over the past ten years," said Grey. "But it's a major route in our system, in our water system to make sure our customers have good quality water and consistent water throughout the day."
Construction will happen Monday through Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Grey advised drivers to expect delays on North Main during these hours and suggested considering alternate routes.
The project is expected to be completed by early July.
