Amtrak Pacific Surfliner discount seekers have a fresh option on the calendar: an additional daily Los Angeles–San Diego roundtrip is being added, alongside a time-limited fare offer, as reported by Railway Supply.
The update restores the route to pre-pandemic service levels, giving commuters and other riders more departure choices across the day.
This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
California’s push for more affordable and environmentally friendly travel has kept passenger rail in focus, spanning large-scale projects as well as promotions aimed at regular riders. In that context, the Pacific Surfliner change is positioned as a straightforward way to make train travel a practical alternative to driving along the coast.

The L.A.–San Diego–San Luis Obispo (LOSSAN) Rail Corridor Agency says a new 13th daily roundtrip will be added on the Los Angeles–San Diego portion of the Amtrak Pacific Surfliner schedule. The new timetable takes effect January 26, 2026, and is intended to cut down the wait between trains while giving riders more flexibility through the day, as outlined in an Amtrak Media announcement.
To coincide with the schedule change, passengers can get 20% off Pacific Surfliner tickets by using code V526. The discount applies to travel between January 26 and March 13, 2026, matching the dates listed on the Pacific Surfliner promotion page.
With the added trip in place, the Pacific Surfliner now offers 13 daily roundtrips between Los Angeles and San Diego. Service also includes five daily roundtrips between San Diego and Goleta, plus two full-corridor trips between San Diego and San Luis Obispo.
Across the full 351-mile route, trains serve 29 stations and retain the onboard basics riders expect: spacious seats, power outlets, free Wi-Fi, bike storage, and a Market Café. The café offers fresh food, along with California wine and local craft beer.
