American Express Travel’s first app prioritizes convenience over innovation.

American Express Travel plans to launch its first dedicated travel mobile app, bringing together hotel and flight booking capabilities with other perks and tools, such as wait times for its popular airport lounges. The move comes as the travel agency seeks to retain customer loyalty in an increasingly competitive digital travel market.
The app will be available on iOS starting September 18, with Android to follow in the coming weeks, the company said Monday.
“Last month, we did a consumer survey where 81% of respondents said they wish there were an all-in-one app that paired booking capabilities with travel inspiration,” Audrey Hendley, president of American Express Travel, told Skift.

American Express Travel is set to debut a dedicated mobile app for travel bookings, bringing together hotel, flight, and car rental options with existing cardholder perks in a streamlined platform. While the app introduces features like real-time Centurion Lounge wait times and blockchain-based digital travel Stamps, it does not expand inventory or add new trip planning tools. Instead, it centralizes current services, aiming to enhance convenience and retain customer loyalty amid intensifying competition in the digital travel sector.
