Allegiant Air has announced new travel routes across the country, and the Des Moines International Airport made the list.
The new routes launch this fall, Allegiant said in a news release, and to celebrate, it is offering one-way fares — for new routes only — for as low as $49.
Here’s what we know about the new destination reachable via the Des Moines Airport.
Beginning Nov. 21, Iowans can travel nonstop from Des Moines to Fort Myers, Florida, on Allegiant Air.
“This expansion reflects our commitment to connecting underserved communities with affordable, convenient travel options,” said Drew Wells, Allegiant’s chief commercial officer. “By adding Fort Myers, we’re providing Des Moines travelers new nonstop access to a popular beach destination, meaning they spend less time at the airport and more time on vacation.”
This flight marks a record-breaking 35th nonstop route out of Des Moines. It is also the sixth new route announced in 2025.
The newest nonstop additions will join two others that are also coming to the Des Moines Airport this fall:
The announcement came as part of a series of new routes Allegiant is launching.
Allegiant is adding a new flight between Fort Myers, Florida and Allentown, Pennsylvania starting Nov. 13 and to Appleton, Wisconsin, beginning Nov. 21. In addition, travelers will be able to fly from Sarasota Bradenton International Airport in Florida to Toledo, Ohio.
For Lauderdale travelers can reach Fort Wayne, Indiana, beginning Nov. 20 and New Orleans passengers can get to Punta Gorda, Florida, starting Nov. 21.
Finally, a new route from Nashville was announced that can take you to Gulf Shores, Alabama, starting Nov. 21.
In May, Allegiant added new flights from Des Moines to Boston and Jacksonville, Florida. The carrier also discontinued its seasonal flight to Los Angeles.
