Stretching nearly 60 miles, this new rail line will play a key role in linking a future high-speed rail network across the region.
A few weeks ago, we shared the Las Vegas to Los Angeles bullet train project, which promises to revolutionize the way we travel. Now, another connection is coming into play: the High Desert Corridor Project, which will link that high speed train route, creating a seamless high-speed network across the region.
The High Desert Corridor (HDC) is a proposed 54-mile long high-speed rail project aimed at connecting the Antelope Valley with the Victor Valley. This corridor is seen as a key link in integrating California’s future high-speed rail system with the Brightline West line, which will connect Las Vegas with L.A. via Rancho Cucamonga hub.
Building the HDC would allow for a direct connection between L.A. and Vegas, enabling faster and more sustainable travel between the two cities. While the project is still in the planning and evaluation phase, the firm HDR has just been selected to provide engineering, design, and advisory services for the corridor.
The High Desert Corridor will enhance connectivity and accessibility for millions of travelers, drive billions in economic growth, and create new opportunities across the region, Girair Kotchian, HDR’s project manager, stated in a recent press release.
The project is currently finalizing environmental reviews and preliminary engineering, with construction expected to begin in the early 2030s.
