Tahoe snow, I-80 travel delays likely as winter storm moves through Sierra – Reno Gazette Journal

A winter storm will bring fresh snow and gusty winds to the Tahoe area starting in the evening of April 25, with travel impacts likely through the morning of April 27, according to the National Weather Service in Reno.
A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 5 p.m. April 25 through 11 a.m. April 27. Snow accumulations are expected to reach 3 to 6 inches above 7,000 feet, with up to 10 inches along the highest peaks. Lake level could see 1 to 3 inches.
Travel could be difficult at times, especially during the evening of April 25 into the morning of April 26, with hazardous conditions expected across Sierra passes.
In the Reno area, rain showers are expected April 25-27, with snow levels remaining well above the valley floor. No snow accumulation is expected in the city.
Here’s a closer look at the updated forecast for Lake Tahoe, Reno and I-80:
Snow showers are expected to impact the Lake Tahoe region through the morning of April 27, with the heaviest snowfall the night of April 25 into April 26. Higher elevations could see several inches of accumulation, while lake level could pick up 1 to 3 inches.
Rain showers are expected in Reno April 25-27, with snow levels staying well above the valley floor. Wet roads are likely, but no snow accumulation is expected in the city.
A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Donner Pass through the morning of April 27, with snow showers expected to develop late April 25 and the heaviest snowfall forecast for April 26 into that night.
