BUFFALO, N.Y. — A State of Emergency remains in effect overnight in Erie County.
Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz is urging drivers to stay off the roads where travel bans are in effect.
Currently, there are driving bans in place on the 219 and the 400. Poloncarz said Thursday that those bans will not be lifted until the roads are passable.

Poloncarz added that he believes the travel bans will likely be lifted after 4 a.m. Friday.
“If people are stuck at a location right now because of a driving ban, we just ask them to wait, wait it out, so the roads can get cleared and we can get you back out on the road safely,” Poloncarz said.
“We don’t want people to leave during the middle of the driving ban, in poor conditions, because they feel like they have to go home, or I have to go to work. The most important thing is to stay where you are, where you’re safe.”
The county executive said there have been some issues with increased truck traffic in areas where travel bans or advisories are in effect.
