Live Friday travel updates as drivers face roadworks across North Staffordshire – Stoke-on-Trent Live

Heading into Friday and the roads are set to be busy across North Staffordshire. Ongoing closures and road works continue to cause delays on key routes.
In addition there will be the usual congestion to contend with – along with any incidents such as collisions that crop up on the roads across North Staffordshire.
In a bid to help keep you moving we will be keeping tabs on not only the roads but any issues on the rail network, all in an effort to keep you moving.
Updates will appear in our dedicated blog below.
There is a queue on the eastbound between Heron Cross to Meir and westbound from Heron Cross down to Sideway.
Busy in the following places:
Traffic is slow on the A50 westbound with queues from Meir Tunnel to Sideway.
Meanwhile it's eased over in Uttoxeter where that collision has now been cleared.
Motorists are being warned of huge delays on the M6 following a smash. And the incident on the southbound stretch has resulted in three lanes being closed.
The collision has occurred between Junction 19 and 18. A live map from National Highways shows traffic is at a stand-still between those junctions.
An alert from traffic monitoring system Inrix states: "Three lanes closed and queueing traffic due to accident on M6 Southbound between Junction 19 A556 ( Knutsford ) and Junction 18 A54 Middlewich Road (Middlewich / Holmes Chapel)."
The collision on the A50 has taken place on the westbound in Uttoxeter. But it is causing issues on other roads – namely the A522 towards Tean as motorists seek alternative routes.
There has been a collision on the A50 on the approach to Uttoxeter.
A lane has been shut off on the M6 northbound at Junction 17 due to a broken down vehicle.
This is where it's still busy
Those works on Leek Road are continuing to cause probelsm. There are queues back to Joiners Square.
Victoria Road remains busy in both directions too. Over on Stoke Road and Shelton and there are queues from the A500 to Cauldon Road.
It remains busy around Burslem and Middleport with queues on Newcastle Street, Market Place and Wedwood Street.
Leek New Road is also busy around Norton Lane and the turning for Norton Heights.
Motorists are being told fuel prices are set to fall from a six-month high – because of a drop in wholesale costs. According to the RAC and the average pump prices will come down by at least 6p per litre for petrol and 3p per litre for diesel in the coming weeks.
That's if 'retailers pass on the savings they are benefitting from when buying in new stock'. Across the country and the average price for petrol stands at 139p per litre and 146p for diesel.
As prices are set to fall we have identified the 10 cheapest places for petrol and diesel across North Staffordshire. The cheapest place for petrol is Morrisons on Festival Park and Gulf on Lichfield Street in Hanley where it's 134.7p.
Diesel and the cheapest is Gulf again, at 139.7p.
Full story here.
We have already told you about the problems on Leek Road – well it's got worse. There has been a crash near Stoke Rep. The A52 is now barely moving from Lime Kiln with Lichfield Street also at a near stand-still. Victoria Road is feeling the impact too – with queues onto King Street.
The gridlock on Leek Road is causing problems around Lime Kiln lights with huge queues on Werrington Road and Dividy Road
It's busy in the following places:
A heads up for those using Leek Road today – it's rammed. There are 'emergency repairs' being carried out on the A52 by Conway Street outside University of Staffordshire.
Add in the fact there's still a lane out for the closed-off turning for Stoke Station and it's causing major problems this morning. A live map from Google is showing tailbacks on Leek Road back to Lime Kilm. Victoria Road is also extremely busy in both directions too. This is having a knock-on effect in Hanley where Lichfield Street is very slow moving southbound and queues are back onto Potteries Way.
The ongoing works at the A500 junction at City Road are continuing to cause delays too.
Back to Lime Kiln and queues on Dividy Road are back towards the Eaton Park turning. On Werrington Road and they're back to Eaves Lane.
This is where it's busy at the moment:
Temporary lights are running on some busy roads today. It's worth noting that there will be works on the busy Dividy Road in Bucknall – and just over on Ash Bank Road there are lights close to Thorney Edge Road.
According to roadworks monitoring site, One Network, and there are an ambundance of works happening in the middle of Kidsgrove around The Avenue.
Here are just some that may cause you issues:
Motorists are facing delays in Burslem, Middleport and Longport as two lots of roadworks continue in the area. As reported by StokeonTrentLive part of Woodbank Street has been shut off which has meant drivers are having to go through the centre of Burslem to get onto Waterloo Road.
The scheme is to allow utilities to be fed into a new housing estate. That has previously caused delays in both directions on Newcastle Street. However the situation has been made worse in the area – after temporary lights went up in Longport.
Stoke-on-Trent City Council is carrying out some resurfacing on Station Street with temporary lights in operation. However those lights have been causing problems.
Such has been the issues that Burslem ward councillor, and leader of the city council, Jane Ashworth has intervened. In an update to residents yesterday, she said: "The traffic lights controlling road works in Longport are not sequenced right. I've asked highways to come out tonight (March 13) to sort it out."
One lane has been closed due to a broken down vehicle on the southbound stretch of the M6 between Junction 17 and 16.
