First Alert Weather Friday: Minor travel impacts possible – KBTX

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – Friday is a First Alert Weather Day as frigid temperatures continue and a slight chance of frozen precipitation arrives.
Friday morning will be another cold one with widespread temperatures in the 20s. That means we’re bracing for another hard freeze tonight, so make sure that your freeze preparations are still in order!

We’ll anticipate gloomy, gray skies on Friday afternoon, which will prevent temperatures from rising to the 40s like they did Thursday afternoon. After that is when the forecast gets tricky…
An area of low pressure off to our west will provide some ingredients for precipitation. That, along with temperatures close to freezing, mean that we are eyeing a very low chance for freezing drizzle or rain overnight Friday into Saturday.
If frozen precipitation does make its way to the area, impacts will be minor. At most, we could find some isolated slick spots on the roads, and elevated surfaces will pose the highest risk for accumulating small amounts of ice. With that in mind, make sure you take extra care if you need to hit the road late Friday night through early Saturday, especially if you are located in the northwestern reaches of the Brazos Valley.
After that, temperatures will rise steadily and stay above freezing through the remainder of the extended forecast, meaning the remainder of the weekend precipitation will fall as rain!
