The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) informs British travelers about the increased seismic activity in Santorini and Amorgos, recommending that those visiting the islands be cautious.
The FCDO informs British travelers about the measures decided at Saturday’s meeting at the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, namely:
Meanwhile, the seismic tremors continue without interruption, putting the Public Authorities on full alert. The local port authorities, according to information, have notified boat owners to be on standby, in case Santorini needs to be evacuated.

In a post on social media, seismologist Gerasimos Papadopoulos, a while ago, wrote:
“Earthquakes in Santorini-Amorgos. We have clarified that this is a sequence with all the characteristics of foreshocks. All possibilities are now open. Fortunately, the seismic activity is developing in a sea area at significant distances from the islands”.

“In the last few hours, seismic activity has continued unabated with many earthquakes of magnitude over 3.5. A short while ago it became 4.5. As I emphasized yesterday, earthquakes are tectonic, not volcanic, and the level of seismic risk has risen compared to 48 hours ago, due to the increase in the number of earthquakes, their magnitudes, and the shift of the epicenters to the northeast.”
