MOLINE, Ill. — The Storm Track 8 team has issued a Weather Impact Alert for Friday, Jan. 31, due to moderate to heavy rainfall that may reduce visibility and impact the morning commute.
Areas south of the Quad Cities, including Galesburg, Burlington and Monmouth, are expected to receive 1 to 1.5 inches of rain.
The Weather Impact Alert will be in effect from 3 a.m. to 9 a.m.
Showers will transition to a steady rainfall during the predawn hours. Heavier pockets of rain, especially south of the Quad Cities metro, could pool on roadways and impact the morning commute.
Drivers should reduce speeds to avoid hydroplaning and exercise caution throughout the alert period.
